Keyword research: Looking through Google’s Eyes from 90-day Carbon Copy Training.

Before starting any marketing exercise, you first need to understand what your competition is doing. By going to Google’s Labs and under Google Suggest, you can start by tying in your search query. In this case we are going to start with Carbon Copy Pro, as you typed the word in, Google will start returning suggestions from what other users have typed in to their search engines. This is an important point to note because it enables us to eliminate or reduce making an estimate, suggestion and or guessing what other prospects are tying in or thinking. It allows us to see through Google’s Eyes as to what they are thinking when they approached Carbon Copy Pro. This really proves how up-to-date and how quick Google is responding to trends in the market.

From the suggestion box, we’ll see Carbon Copy BiB with the lowest results on the right of 106,000 competing pages. This is the term we can go after and solely dominated the market.

So, let’s drill down and identify keywords!

By putting “Carbon Copy Pro Bib” in exact quotes in the search box, shows you your true competitors. Basically, carbon copy pro bib is too broad of a match without quotes and more of a generic term which returns 154,000 competing results. When we look at “carbon copy pro bib “ in quotes it only returns 3,760 competing results. This means we are only competing against 3,700 competitors rather than 154,000 results. This tells us that we have an unbelievable opportunity to grab a lot of attention.

Additional Advanced Operators in Google:

  1. intitle
  2. inurl
  3. inanchor

When we typed in intitle: “carbon copy pro bib” in the search box, we have only 387 competing pages that have the phrase carbon copy pro bib as shown in the link. This is displayed on your browser as well on the 1st listing in the active link for each one of the search engine result pages from google. When you get rid of the quotes, we have 32,100 competing pages for intitle:carbon copy pro bib. This is very important to note that we want to look at word order in our keyword research, and how they are organized.

The inurl operator:

This is basically showing you the number of actual file names that google has indexed. For example, inurl:”Carbon Copy Pro Bib”, when typed  in the Google search box,  returns 1,560 competing file names with this phrase in it. Also, google will highlight the terms indicating the keywords as shown in the link.

The  inanchor operator:

When we typed in inanchor: Carbon Copy Pro Bib in the search box, it returns 52,300 competing results as shown in the pic below. The inanchor operator shows you which web page of your competitor, have back links to it that points to the key phrase. The more back links you have, will dictate a higher ranking than your competitor. The anchor text means the way we link to and describes what the link is about.

Google Trends at www.google.com/trends

This is used to find trends and search volumes of different keywords. By using google trends, you can find out which is a more popular search engine phrase. For example, carbon copy pro and carboncopypro. Google trends shows the regions or countries that are of interest for these key phrases and compares them based on search volumes.  This is an important tool in Niche identification because it tells you where people are searching from, popular key phrases, where and whom to market to as shown in the pic below.

Another key tool that is just came out a few weeks ago is at www.googel.com/sktool

The “SKTOOL” actually reverses the way we do keyword research. Instead of starting by assuming what keywords people might be typing in, we use the google search based tool, “SKTOOL” to analyze websites and phrases that might be related to the site. For example when we look at carbon copy pro and business opportunity, we see the search volumes advertiser competition from the bar-tells you how competitive the key phrases are. It also shows the bid price. This tool is very effective if you’re google adwords to see the bidding prize for each keyword or key phrase. Also, from an organic standpoint  it shows the market value of the keywords.

As the second 90 day challenge comes to end I was able to gather significant and golden nuggets of information that has helped me propelled my business to the next level. Prior to starting the 90-day challenge, I attended the carbon copy marketing event in Dallas, Texas back in October, 2008 where I met the marketing gurus such as Dennis Karganilla, founder of MLM Goldmine), Jimmy Davis (co-founder of MLM Goldmine) and Howie Schwartz (simply… the MAN who owns Google… the wizard), Jay kubaseck, and Kip Herriage-founder and CEO of wealth Master International. This is where I was first introduced to the concept of the 90 day challenge.

Little did I know what the 90 day challenge consists of, I decided to join it after been blown away by the quality of information and the coveted tips and trips that were presented at the event.

Prior to the event, I joined Carbon Copy Pro in August, 2008 with no experience in Sales and marketing. What fascinates me about carbon copy pro was the complete marketing system that had been developed to help solve problems most people faced in a home-based business and they provided them with all the tools to succeed.  If you can imagine, they even closed the deals for you!!

This program was an eye opener for me because it teaches me everything a newbie needs to know to master the art and dominating your competition in internet based businesses.

Snapshot of what happened during the first 90 days?

Here’s a glimpse of what the experience was like… what I’ve learned and gained from taking on this challenge.

a) Experienced firsthand the tips and tricks of my-story marketing. This includes mypace, facebook, squidoo, wordpress, hubpages, twitter, etc. Before, I never knew how to set-up a professional profile on these social websites but after implementing the strategies and doing the home work assignments I was able to accomplish this task fairly easily.

b) Realized how much easier it is to build rapport and credibility using video marketing such as You-Tube, Viddler, Videngage, and many more. This involves making your videos search engine optimizible by using keyword strategies.

c) Learned how easy it is to get qualified leads chasing you using mystory marketing. Before hand I used to get frustrated of not getting any leads, sending people invitations and post my business on peoples profiles on myspace. Little did I know, what I was doing was totally wrong until I implemented the strategies.

d) Learned how to do keyword research the right way… as well as competition analysis. This was the highlight of the 90 day challenge. I have learned so much from this and a result I was able to key in on my competitors and see what they are doing and finding my niche markets.

e) Learned how to REALLY use psychological triggers that has been used for years in marketing and stood the test of time. In order to accomplish these goals, I had to change my mindset. This is a critical component to any success. It was very challenging at first but after you stay focus and with the help of other participants in the program I was able to get rid of the self-defeating thoughts.

f)  Learned how to tweak your squeeze pages to maximize conversions 24/7 and put cash in your pocket.

g)  Maximizing the effective use of all the web 2.0 properties to dominate google and explode your business.

h) Learn and develop Leadership qualities and skills. In order to become a master marketer, I first have to become a leader offering true virtue and knowledge on any marketing technique. This was highly emphasized in the program where we have to master the technique to some degree before moving on the other technique.

Even though it was an intensive program, what you get out of it is un-parallel to any training you can get out there especially if you’re a newbie in the home business industry.The best part of all this, is that I get to share what I’ve learned and educate my team on this material and watch them explode their businesses using these coveted techniques. Also, I’ve been able to share my knowledge with my prospects now. This truly put my attraction marketing into a whole new level.
